Brief synopsis -
Lanie Kerrigan (Angelina Jolie) is an upwardly mobile, career-focused Seattle television reporter with her eye on a
network assignment. She has the perfect boyfriend, the perfect apartment and the perfect bleached-blond hair. In fact, she thinks her life is perfect.
Until she interviews a homeless street prophet (Tony Shalhoub) who predicts that she will die next week.
Following the realisement of a few of the street psychics other predictions, Lanie begins to take a long hard look at her life. Her long-time
disapproving co-worker cameraman, Pete (Ed Burns), comforts the fast psychologically deteriorating woman and begins to
uncover the admirable and vulnerable woman beneath. She progressively reorganises her priorities and breaks down to the point of becoming drunk and
producing a report on the side of a group of protestors - an insane act that actually prospers !
She has been offered the job the prophet said she would not get - but she has not started the job yet. It is death day and she must take
a flight to the new city, which she survives. She walks out in front of a bus, which does not hit her. She ends up in hospital in intensive care, but
still not dead. This brush with death has not killed her, merely a part of her. She has become less repressed and loosened up her attitude - much to
the benefit of everyone around her.

The part Angelina most wanted to play : herself. She sees herself as Lanie - successful but ditzy - but we reserve our judgement on this. The
platinum blonde hair is rather too perfectly coiffed, and the plot is a little anaemic, but it remains a girly lifestyle movie for the
young woman with angst. The cast is well selected, and the direction is carried out with professionalism, making it a good late night movie.

AJ herself opted for blonde hair, what was she thinking ! The hair has a life of its own. A fair performance but not one of AJ best,
weak plot doesnt help.
