Brief synopsis -
Without going into too much detail, Lara Croft (Angelina Jolie) is an orphaned adventurer ... she travels the world searching for ancient artefacts and facing perils for fun. Her father has left her the key to an artefact, the Triangle of Light, allowing the holder to control time.

Thousands of years ago, a meteor fell to Earth at the moment of alignment of the nine planets and our moon, its metal melted and the Illuminati (people of the light) worshipped the triangle for its power but caused the destruction of the city they built.

Now the Illuminati are back, and steal the key from Lara, even through her best efforts and the help of her techie Bryce (Noah Taylor) and butler Hillary (Chris Barrie). Now it is a fight and race between her and Manfred Powell (Iain Glen) to find the pieces of the triangle. Directed by her father’s clues, she encounters both Mr. Powell and former associate and fellow tomb raider Alex West (Daniel Craig) in Cambodia and Siberia and after a number of scraps Lara eventually gains control of the triangle.

For a fleeting moment she meets with her father and saves Alex’s life, and destroys the triangle. The cavern is caving in but Lara has to finish off Mr. Powell to avenge her father’s death - then back to business as usual.

Review - by Paul Harris (male)
Thoughts/Opinions - Angelina was born for this part - Lara Croft incarnate. The build, the physique, the voice, the sensuality ... oh, and the film is great too. Although a little too ‘mythical’ it is faithful to the Tomb Raider game series. Well constructed action/fight sequences interspersed with Globe-trotting scenery and dialogue makes for an enthralling and active film; but somehow Angelina still manages to slot in her trademark emotions.
Slated by the critics but it remains my favourite film.

Thoughts/Opinions - Angelina brings Croft to life, loved this film, a female Indiana Jones if you will. Although it didn’t gross big as expected it was a superb effort and had same excellent highlights, the bungee ballet, riding the beam and the realistic fighting.
