Brief synopsis - Angelina Jolie, et al. in Cyborg II
By no means a masterpiece, nor is it an inspiring thriller, but it is apparently surprisingly entertaining. It completely abandoned the plot of the first film and started from scratch so could be viewed as an original film. Late into the 21st century, a company called “PinWheel” have developed cyborgs that look and act just like real humans (technically Androids then !), even down to emotions. One of the business men quotes, “If God didn’t make you, we did.”

Things start to go wrong when one of the cyborgs, Cash (Angelina Jolie), recognises independence. A freelance cyborg called Mercy (Jack Palance) has dedicated its life to helping renegade cyborgs beat he system and flee the country following the death of its wife. Cash elects to flee and takes a the human Colt (Elias Koteas), who happens to be in love with her, as her guide and, as he is a skilled warrior, her protector. Obviously, PinWheel sends two trackers after them, Danny (Billy Draco) and Chan (a female martial arts cyborg). Cash and Colt must race for survival in the futuristic city streets.

The special effects are above average, including the awesome shots of a battery-charged city of 2170. The characters are well drawn out and defined, with nice chemistry between the two leads and a chilling performance by Billy Drago. The film is rounded off by good choreography, well designed settings and a fairly good score. The director did a fairly good job in lifting a poor plot with a well chosen cast, characters, dialogue, special effects and stunts.
Review - by Paul Harris (male)
Thoughts/Opinions - Turn up the brightness like for the X-files. Rather a dark, dank setting trying to reflect human nature yet despite a few ‘big names’ and Angelina bringing femininity to the role, the film fails to perform making it a 1am “nothing better to watch” movie.

Thoughts/Opinions - Angelina’s performance is possibly the one saviour of a low budget poor effect film. The film is poorly made only watchable if you’re a fan of AJ.
